Koze

Koze is a contemporary artist and founder of the Soulful Gallery.

Working mainly in spray paint and acrylic onto large canvas his art blends free flowing graffiti with strong graphical composition. Heavily influenced by hip hop culture his work often features DJ’s, trainers and graffiti lettering.

Recently Koze has stepped away from his traditional love of bold colour. His current paintings strip graffiti back to its rawest form through the use of mono-tones and negative space.

Clients and live art

Over the years, Koze has project managed and painted large murals often in a live arena. Recently he has worked with Eurostar to create a live art event to announce their cultural ambassador Jarvis Cocker and transformed 15 metres of canvas into a London Underground tube carriage which was then covered in graffiti at VillageLife, Maidenhead.

Other clients have included: Technics, designing t-shirts for their DJ collection; Moggstar Motox, producing their motocross kit and casual wear range as well as store installations for the fashion retailer Michael Chell.

Inspiration and influences

From an early age Koze was into art, but this took on a different dimension in the 80’s when break-dance album covers and movies such as Beat Street and Style Wars opened his eyes to the world of graffiti. This remains a key influence today, as does the work of Neville Brody, Keith Harring, James Rosenquist, Andy Warhol and Francis Bacon.
